My Approach

Nearly 20 years ago, I took my passion for writing -- and my Master's Degree in English -- and jumped out of the corporate world.  I began working on a freelance basis for numerous clients in my area (which is right outside of New York City).

Since then, I’ve created copy for multiple platforms — from broadcast to internet, catalog copy, SEO, direct response, business proposals, publicity, and marketing materials.  Pretty much any and everything.

My former corporate life gave me an extensive background in sales. This combination of marketing awareness and writing chops results in copy that both sizzles – and delivers.

I love collaborating, offering new ways to repurpose existing materials, or developing more assets that reinforce messaging.

My clients know they can expect tight, compelling copy/content, delivered on deadline and with a consistently professional attitude. (#NoDrama)

My Story

Me sailing on the Choptank River....

A native of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in English, both from Adelphi University, New York. My MA was granted as part of a coveted "assistantship," which I was offered by the university in recognition of my exceptional involvement in both the department and the school overall.

I began my professional writing career at ProMedia, a New York radio syndication firm, where I researched and created short news features and wrote original comedy bits for morning radio teams across America.

I was recruited by ABC Radio Networks to join their Special Programs team, working on syndicated shows, including the legendary American Top 40.

A few years later, I was wooed away from ABC to help launch the groundbreaking Country radio start-up, After MidNite with Blair Garner.  As Vice-President of Affiliate Relations, I quickly built a network of over 250 top stations, making it one of the most successful new shows in radio syndication history. I also directed all aspects of affiliations and marketing, including spearheading a profitable companion website to the show, one of the first in radio, and one that worked directly with record companies in Nashville to promote their rising artists via this new medium of the internet.

Once After Midnite was sold to Premiere Radio Networks, I struck out on my own, creating a successful freelance writing business, specializing in copy for the broadcast, marketing, and internet industries. Clients have included Sirius/XM Satellite Radio Networks, Things Remembered, American Towns Media, Civic Entertainment, CultureSonar, Alliance Entertainment, Uplift Marketing, WYT Labs, AdLarge Media, MoneyHunt Properties, Wellspring Entertainment, BFS Entertainment, Pancora Productions, United Stations Radio Networks, Radio Express, Media America, and many more clients across diverse verticals.

I'm also co-author of Internet Jobs For the Rest of Us: They’re Not Just for Geeks Anymore (Berkeley, 2001) and author of  OK, So You're Dead: A Sassy Guide to the Afterlife (Amazon, 2014) and Your Pet Has Died. Now What?  (Amazon, 2017).

Two of my non-writing passions:  gardening and animals.
